Why Your Practice Needs a Retreat

There’s a version of yoga that lives on your mat at home, squeezed between school runs and deadlines — and it’s valuable. It’s the steady drumbeat of practice, the showing up again and again.

But there’s another version of yoga that only reveals itself when you step away. When the phone is on airplane mode, the to-do list stops calling your name, and the only real decision of the day is which cushion to sit on.

That’s what a retreat gives you — not a break from your practice, but a chance to actually meet it.

On the mat, in daily life, we practice in fragments. An hour here, a breath between meetings there. On retreat, practice becomes continuous. You wake with it, eat with it, walk with it, rest with it. And in that continuity, something shifts. The postures you’ve done a hundred times start to feel different in your body. The meditation that always felt just out of reach suddenly has room to land. Insight that takes months to surface in ordinary life can arrive in days.

There’s also this: you can’t see your own patterns from inside them. Home is where our habits are invisible to us — the same tension we carry, the same stories we tell, the same walls we don’t notice we’ve built. Distance changes that. A new landscape, a new rhythm, a community of people also choosing to go deeper — these things hold up a mirror that daily life rarely does.

And perhaps most importantly: retreat reminds you what stillness actually feels like. Not the five minutes of quiet you steal before everyone wakes up, but the deep, unhurried stillness that lets the nervous system finally exhale. That kind of rest isn’t indulgent — it’s necessary. It’s how we come back to ourselves so we can return to our lives, our families, our work, with more presence, not less.

Your home practice is the root. Retreat is where it blooms.

All our retreats lovingly cater to non-yogis too. We will meet you where your practice is at.

If you’ve ever felt the pull to go deeper — this is your sign.

A Weekend to Come Home to Yourself

There’s a reason people have been drawn to Hepburn Springs for over a century. The mineral springs, the soft hills, the quiet — it’s a place that has always known how to slow people down. In May 2027, we’re inviting you to slow down with us.

Join experienced yoga teacher Nicole Cutri and clinical nutritionist Melanie Makris of Paradigm Nutrition for a weekend built around one simple idea: that true wellness isn’t found in another quick fix, but in the space where movement, nourishment, and stillness finally get to work together instead of competing for your attention.

Why this retreat, why now

Most of us are running on a body we haven’t properly listened to in a long time. We stretch when we’re stiff, eat when we’re stressed, and push through when we should rest. This retreat isn’t about adding one more thing to your to-do list — it’s about subtracting the noise, so you can hear what your body’s actually been asking for.

Over the weekend, you’ll move with Nicole through yoga practices designed to release what’s held in the body — deep, grounding sessions alongside gentler, restorative ones — while Melanie brings her clinical expertise to help you understand nutrition not as rules and restriction, but as a genuine act of self-care. Practical, evidence-based, and free of fad-diet noise.

What you’ll leave with

  • A body that feels more spacious, less braced

  • A clearer, calmer relationship with food — grounded in science, not guilt

  • Tools you can actually take home and use

  • New friendships forged in the particular honesty that only a retreat brings

  • Time in one of Victoria’s most restorative landscapes, away from screens and schedules

Who this is for

You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to have your eating “figured out.” You just need to be ready to give yourself a weekend of genuine care — the kind that’s easy to promise yourself and hard to actually take, until you book it.

🌿FIND YOUR DHARMA

Dharma can loosely be translated, in a Western understanding, as your true calling, or alignment with your higher self, and living with authentic purpose. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us Svadharama - “It is far better to perform one’s own dharma, even if imperfectly, than another’s dharma perfectly. Destruction in the course of performing one’s own duty is a blessing, but another’s path is fraught with danger." (Chapter 3, Verse 35)

There is a quiet clearing beyond the noise of your everyday life — a place where the mountains hold you, the air slows you down, and the question finally has room to surface: what am I here for?

This is an invitation to step away — not to escape your life, but to meet it more honestly. Over three nights nestled in the lush hills of the Byron Hinterlands, we come together to reconnect with breath, body, and the deeper thread of purpose that runs through everything we do.

Twice daily, we’ll move through yoga and meditation practices designed to still the mind and open the heart — creating the internal spaciousness needed for real clarity to arrive. Between practices, dedicated sessions on finding your dharma will guide you gently inward: exploring what lights you up, what you’re here to give, and how to build a life shaped by intention rather than autopilot.

This retreat is led by highly trained yoga and mindfulness teacher Nicole Cutri (RYTA500) and her husband Gaethan Cutri, who has transformed his life from living a life of expectation as a lawyer, to obligation as a generational farmer, to now living a life of freedom and intention to create abundance and live in a state of pranic flow..

This isn’t about arriving with answers. It’s about creating the conditions — in nature, in community, in stillness — for your own truth to rise to the surface.

You’ll leave with a felt sense of direction, and the tools to keep listening for it long after you’ve left the hinterlands behind.

Three nights. Twice-daily yoga practice. Daily sessions on finding purpose. One life-changing question: What is my dharma — and am I living it?

What’s Included

  • 3 nights at the incredible SOMA (where Nine Perfect Strangers was filmed), where every detail is thoughtfully considered

  • Daily activities - Morning and afternoon breathwork, yoga and meditation suited to all levels and abilities, plus in-depth discussions and workshops on finding your dharma.
